I have considerable experience of the YES Encounter Scheme, and have walked alongside a number of young people who have undertaken it. I can highly commend it to you all, and have prayed that we might be able to offer something similar/an extension of the scheme to Portsmouth Diocese.

Bishop Lindsay Urwin was a strong encourager of that scheme, and seeks to transfer that process to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, by offering 4 places for young people (pre-Uni or Post-Graduate Gap Year) to work and minister at the Shrine, concentrating on a pastoral and evangelistic ministry, and culminating in the annual Youth Pilgrimage. This is not a placement for already-dedicated ordinands but an opportunity for all (men and women) to offer themselves in God's service for a year. It hasn't got a name yet, but I am sure that will come in good time.

We have just done an all age service based on the young peoples sunday stuff. We gave them the whole deal and they put a lot of time and effort into what turned out to be an excellent service. The resources on the website are good and the young people really engaged with the concept. The content provoked a lot of discussion throughout the church about how young people are percieved in culture and overall has had a really positive effect.

Are you brave enough to give a whole service at your church over to the young people? Go on, I dare you to.
